QuadToneRIP version 2.7.2 Release Notes This is both a Mac OSX release and a Windows release. The Mac release supports Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard through 10.7 Lion. The PC release supports Windows XP and Windows 7. It also has support for many new Epson printers. Included are the R2000, R3000, x890, and x900 families. Support for all 10 inks on the x900 printers is available. The new inks are designated GR = Green and OR = Orange. Simply install this new version over existing versions. It may require you to Delete old Quad printers using System Preferences > Print&Fax Printers should be recreated using the Install scripts in QuadToneRIP/Profiles Please report any trouble especially with OS X Lion. A major change in Lion is that it does not run PPC (PowerPC) programs any more. All the QTR programs have been updated but the X-Rite program MeasureTool which has been the recommended tool for Eye-One spectrophotometer users is PPC only and is not being updated. Other possibilities are in the works but keeping a version of Snow Leopard on an external bootable drive may be a good idea if you've been using MeasureTool. Special Notes for Windows users: First, the QTRgui interface is still version 2.7.0.0. It does not support the 10 inks on the x900 printers in the Curve Create tool. Using Curve Create you can only access the standard 8 inks like the x880 printers. However the actual program that creates curves does support all 10 inks and the print program does as well. So its easy to print on 10 ink printers with existing curves. Its also possible to create curves using Notepad to edit the .qidf files. A easy method is to use Curve Create and set it up using another ink name such as LC then in Notepad change the "LC" in the .qidf file to "OR" to use the Orange ink. Change to GR to use Green ink. Once the .qidf file has been chnaged drag this file to ..\QuadToneRIP\bin\quadprofile.exe and drop it on to the executable to process it. Also the Graph Curve will not work properly with these printers.
